What is Sex Therapy?

Sex therapy, also known as psychosexual therapy, is a specialist form of talking therapy that addresses sexual difficulties and relationship concerns. Unlike medical treatments, sex therapy focuses on the psychological, emotional and relational factors that may be affecting your intimate life.

Many people are unsure what to expect from sex therapy sessions. It's important to understand that sex therapy is entirely talk-based – there is absolutely no physical contact or examination involved. Sessions take place in a comfortable, confidential environment where you can discuss your concerns openly without judgment.

During therapy, we work together to understand the underlying factors affecting your sexual wellbeing. You may be given exercises or practices to try at home in the privacy of your own relationship, which help build intimacy skills and explore new ways of connecting with yourself or your partner.

Sex therapy is steeped in over 60 years of research and clinical evidence. I take an interdisciplinary approach, using evidence-based methods including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy to achieve the results you need.

Online and In-Person Sex Therapy with Danielle Bennett

Whether you prefer the flexibility of online sex therapy or the structure of face-to-face sessions, Balancelife offers both formats at the same fee of £85 per session. All sessions are fully confidential and provide the same depth of therapeutic support.

Online Sex Therapy

Online sex therapy with an accredited COSRT therapist is now the preferred choice for many clients across the UK. Sessions take place via secure video call, allowing you to attend from the privacy of your own home — particularly valuable for those dealing with sensitive concerns around sexual health, intimacy, or relationship difficulties. As an online sex therapist, Danielle Bennett works with individuals and couples UK-wide, with appointments available Monday to Thursday 12pm–8pm and Friday 11am–5pm. Research published by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) consistently supports online therapy as equally effective to in-person sessions for most presenting issues.

In-Person Sex Therapy

In-person sex therapy and face-to-face sex therapy sessions are available at two consulting rooms in Malvern and Kidderminster, Worcestershire. For clients who prefer a dedicated therapeutic space away from home, face-to-face sex therapy offers a structured environment that many find helpful when addressing complex or deeply personal concerns. As an in-person sex therapist serving clients across the West Midlands and beyond, Danielle draws on 30 years of clinical experience — including work with the NHS and Relate — to provide evidence-based, non-judgmental support.

Both formats are available for individuals and couples. If you are unsure which is right for you, the free 15-minute consultation is a good opportunity to discuss your preferences before committing to a session.
